Featured tee time for Round 3
Only one player has successfully defended a title on the PGA Tour in 2025 — that was Scottie Scheffler at the 2025 Memorial Tournament — but it appears that this week we may have a contender to add his name to that list.
Matt McCarty, who claimed his maiden PGA Tour victory last year at the Black Desert Championship — launched himself into the mix at this year’s edition on Friday with a sizzling round of 65, highlighted by a front-nine 28 that included seven birdies. He’s now eight under overall, and two shots off the lead with two rounds to play.
“To be able to go back to back would be something cool, yeah,” McCarty said after his round. “That’s a unique opportunity.”
McCarty will tee off for the third round at 2:40 p.m. ET Saturday alongside Pierceson Coody and Justin Lower.
