It’s not a two-man show at the Zozo Championship, but it sure feels that way. Particularly considering the two men at the center of the plot — longtime pros Nico Echavarria and Justin Thomas — each brings an interesting narrative to the table.
Echavarria, of course, has been riding a hot streak through the fall season, following up his T11 finish at the inaugural Black Desert Championship with a 54-hole lead in Japan. He’s battling to stay not only inside the top-125 on the PGA Tour (an all-important metric used to judge full-time membership), but also to stay as close to the top spot on that list as is reasonable after the fall season, considering invitations to golf’s top events are handed out to those higher on the list.
If Echavarria is to grab that win, though, he will need to find off the furiously charging fan favorite, Justin Thomas. Thomas hasn’t won an event in 2.5 years, and he’s looking a big-time victory on Sunday at the Zozo in what might be his final full-field event of the 2024 season.
You can watch the final round of the Zozo Championship on Golf Channel starting at 11 p.m. ET on Saturday, or you can stream the action via NBCSports.com or the NBC Sports App with an active cable subscription.
