Twenty-nine-year-old LPGA veteran Lexi Thompson, who recently announced she would retire at the end of this season, opened with a four-under 68 in Round 1 to take a narrow one-shot lead.

Sitting directly behind her on the leaderboard tied for second, though, is Korda, who is hunting for her second major win of the year.
