In Thursday’s opening round at Colonial, PGA Tour veteran Charley Hoffman fired a five-under 65 to take the first-round lead by one shot.
Among a large group of players tied for second at four under are reigning Open champion Brian Harman and Tony Finau.
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler made two bogeys and a double bogey to head into Friday’s second round at two over.
