The 2023 Farmers Insurance Open gets underway on Wednesday at Torrey Pines, and the hottest player in the world is the far-and-away betting favorite. Here’s what you need to know.
Farmers Insurance Open odds: This week’s favorites
Last week, Jon Rahm won the American Express in dramatic fashion, his second-straight win after claiming the Tournament of Champions title to kick off the month.
Those wins have pushed Rahm to No. 3 in the Official World Golf Ranking, but it’s clear he’s the best player right now. As a result, Rahm is far-and-away the betting favorite this week with odds-to-win of +450.
Tony Finau takes the honors as the oddsmakers’ pick for the second most likely to win, but his odds of +1200 aren’t even in the same ballpark as Rahm’s.
Also featured in top-10 this week are Justin Thomas at +1600, Max Homa at +2200 and Jason Day at +2500.
Farmers Insurance Open odds: Long shot of the week
We’re going with a familiar pick for our longshot this week: five-time PGA Tour winner Rickie Fowler, who sits at +10000 in odds to win. After years of struggles, Fowler has re-tooled his game of late with the help of a new stable of coaches.
The 34-year-old veteran already has two top-10 finishes in the 2022-23 PGA Tour season, a T6 at the Fortinet Championship and a T2 at the Zozo Championship. Last week, he finished T54 at the American Express last week, but that was his first start of the new year.
Fowler is bound to win again on Tour sometime soon, and if he makes it happen this week at Torrey Pines, he would turn a $100 bet into $10,000.
