3M Open final round preview

It’s crunch time on the PGA Tour season, and a handful of the best players in the world are still looking to lock up their place in golf’s coveted postseason run. Earlier this week, Justin Thomas was the first victim of the end of season pressure, missing the cut by two at TPC Twin Cities and thrusting his Ryder Cup and FedEx Cup chances into question.

But on Sunday at the 3M Open, opportunity is the name of the game — and an ocean of it awaits for a handful of big names.

Tony Finau, the longtime PGA Tour pro and Ryder Cup stalwart is looking to juice his odds of making it onto the team and the postseason with a big Sunday at the 3M. He enters Sunday just a handful of strokes off the lead set by Lee Hodges. Hodges has all the looks of running away with the 3M, but it’s Sunday on the PGA Tour, which means his lead, while sizeable, is far from guaranteed.

Further back, JT Poston and Keith Mitchell are among those fighting to make a late-Sunday run. At this point in the year, any sort of leaderboard movement can be crucial to finding yourself in the PGA Tour’s coveted top 70 spots for the FedEx Cup Playoffs. And on Sunday at TPC Twin Cities, you can bet that’s top of mind for everyone near the top of the leaderboard.

Below, find everything you need to know about the 3M Open’s $7.8 million purse; you can tune into the final round of play on CBS beginning at 3 PM ET and continuing through the end of play.
