Tiger Woods creates his own Magnolia Lane outside of his home

April 12, 2020

Call it DIY Augusta National Golf Club. Or Augusta South.

Tiger Woods and the rest of the golfing world can not get to the home of the Masters this week, the tournament postponed until November due to the coronavirus pandemic. So Woods brought Augusta National Golf Club to him, one year since he won his fifth green jacket and 15th major title overall.

Outside of Woods’ house in Jupiter, Fla., sat two rows of 11 trees a few feet apart from each other. At the end of the rows lay an arrangement of yellow flowers just outside his home, a familiar yellow flag sprouting out from the middle. A do-it-yourself version of the entrance to ANGC.

“Our Magnolia Lane quarantine style,” Woods wrote under a photo shared on his social media feeds on Sunday, about an hour before CBS replayed his 2019 victory.

His fellow pros enjoyed the setup, with Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas, Rickie Fowler, Bryson DeChambeau and several others liking the photo on Instagram.

“Every time you say quarantine style it makes me think of animal style in n out,” McIlroy commented, referring to a menu item at fast-food franchise In-N-Out.

Food was also on Woods’ mind earlier in the week.

On Tuesday night, the day when the traditional Champions Dinner at Augusta would have been served, he shared a photo of his own version. Woods, in his green jacket, his two kids, Sam and Charlie, girlfriend Erica Herman and his two dogs sat at a table overlooking his backyard practice facility. “Masters Champions Dinner quarantine style. Nothing better than being with family,” he wrote underneath. And they would eat what would have been on the menu – chicken and steak fajitas, sushi, sashimi, cupcakes and milkshakes.

“We had it all,” Woods said on the CBS broadcast. “Exactly the same thing. I know it’s very different than having past champions there, so under the given circumstances and the way the world is right now and to be able to do it at home with my family was a lot of fun.”

After dinner, the jacket came off.

“After dinner, the jacket was taken off and then it was cupcakes in people’s hairs and stuff flying all over the place. You just can’t get the jacket dirty. We had a bunch of fun with it.”
