Tony Romo set to make Korn Ferry Tour debut in April

February 20, 2020

Tony Romo’s Korn Ferry Tour debut it set.

Romo received a sponsor’s exemption into the Veritex Bank Championship and will play in front of a home crowd in Texas. The event is scheduled for April 16-19 at Texas Rangers Golf Club in Arlington, Texas, which is just three miles north of AT&T Stadium and where Romo starred for the Dallas Cowboys.

Romo has never played in a Korn Ferry event, although he did compete in the 2018 Korn Ferry Tour Qualifying Tournament, making it through pre-qualifying but not past the first stage. He’s missed the cut in all four of his PGA Tour starts. His most recent event was last month’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, where he teamed with Jim Furyk but missed the cut.

“I’m very excited about the opportunity to play at the Veritex Bank Championship against the future PGA Tour stars,” Romo said in a release. “Playing in the shadows of AT&T Stadium and having the tournament in my own back yard will be great. I have been working hard on my game and hope to make a little noise during the championship.”

Romo, 39, is an NFL analyst for CBS.
