Michelle Wie joins CBS golf coverage in broadcast shakeup

December 3, 2019

CBS has announced big changes to its broadcast team for the 2020 golf season.

Five-time LPGA Tour winner Michelle Wie will serve as a contributor for several events, including the Masters. Wie’s promotion comes after drawing rave reviews for her performance as a guest analyst for Golf Channel’s Solheim Cup coverage. She becomes the youngest face of CBS’s Tour coverage at only 30 years old.

In addition to Wie, CBS announced a slew of promotions and new hires.

Former Masters champion Trevor Immelman is joining the network’s golf coverage as an analyst. His brother Mark, also an analyst for CBS, is increasing his role to cover the majority of the network’s PGA Tour coverage, as well as the Masters and PGA Championship.

Venerable on-course reporter and two-time major champion Dottie Pepper is elevating to the role of lead on-course reporter and Frank Nobilo is expanding to a full-time role, covering the entirety of the CBS golf season. Andrew Catalon is also receiving a promotion, stepping into Bill Macatee’s role as fill-in host for Jim Nantz.

The news comes on the heels of the network’s October announcement that longtime analysts Gary McCord and Peter Kostis wouldn’t return for the 2020 season.

The group of new hires join Jim Nantz, Nick Faldo, Ian Baker-Finch and fellow new hire Davis Love III to form a new-look broadcast for the home of half of golf’s majors.
