Watch Danny Willett’s son celebrate dad’s win with the biggest surprise hug

September 22, 2019

Some people are a sucker for those surprise military reunion videos, and while those certainly do pull at the heartstrings, I can’t help but smile the same time after every tournament, when the family of the victor runs onto the green to celebrate.

On Sunday at the BMW PGA Championship, Danny Willett’s ongoing comeback hit another high point at Wentworth. Willett, who a year and a half ago was injured and languishing 462nd in the world, has since registered two top 15s in his last two major starts and won twice, thanks to a three-shot victory on Sunday.

Willett capped it off with a piped drive on the 18th tee…

And then a striped approach shot into the 18th green, leading to an easy two-putt birdie.

But the best moment came afterwards, when Danny’s son came storming onto the green and gave his dad a massive hug. Credit to Danny, too. His son was running at him with some speed, but he took it all in stride.

A perfect end to a wonderful round, and a comeback destined to go even higher.
