British Open odds to win: Brooks Koepka the early favorite to win at Royal Portrush

June 18, 2019

The 2019 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach may have just finished, but it’s already time to start looking ahead to the British Open at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland. It will be the first time Portrush has hosted the Open since 1951.

Right now, Brooks Koepka is the favorite to win with 6/1 odds. The four-time major champion finished second this past week, and he’s only a month removed from winning the PGA Championship. Koepka finished T39 at the 2018 British Open.

The second-best odds to win belong to a man who grew up in Northern Ireland, Rory McIlroy (10/1). The four-time major champion finished T9 at the U.S. Open, but he hasn’t won a major since the 2014 PGA Championship. That victory came during the same year McIlroy captured his only British Open win. He tied for second at Carnoustie last year.

Tiger Woods and Dustin Johnson have the third-highest odds to win at 12/1. Woods finished T21 at Pebble and will be looking for his 16th major title in July. The 15-time major champion last won in April at the Masters, and he’s won the British Open three times in his career. His last win in the event came in 2006, and he finished T6 last year.

Johnson was T35 finish at the U.S. Open, and he’s still looking for his second major title. The 2016 U.S. Open champion failed to make the cut at Carnoustie last year.

Justin Rose, who has never won an Open Championship before, has the fourth-highest odds to win at 16/1. The 2013 U.S. Open champion was T3 at Pebble this past week and T2 at the 2018 Open Championship.

The defending champion, Francesco Molinari, has the fifth-best odds to win at 20/1. Molinari is coming off a T16 result at the U.S. Open. Jordan Spieth also finds himself with 20/1 odds to win next month. The three-time major champion was T65 at Pebble Beach, and he’s still looking for his first win since the 2017 Open Championship.
