Brooks Koepka has intentionally lost 24 pounds since November, although he won’t disclose the reasoning, according to Golf Channel’s Ryan Lavner.
“You’ll see,” he told Lavner. “After Wednesday I’ll be fine.”
According to Lavner, Koepka has been training more often and eating better. He says he plans to “eat normal” again, and said the diet is “only four months of my career.”
Koepka says the loss of weight — he’s down to 190 — means there isn’t as much weight going through the ball. With that, he said he’s about 10 to 12 yards shorter off the tee.
“I don’t have as much feel,” he said. “I just feel out of sorts.”
Koepka shot a two-under 70 in the final round of the Players on Sunday and finished two-under for the week. He’s currently tied for 57th.
Koepka missed the cut at last week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational but tied for 2nd the week before at the Honda Classic. The three-time major champion is 16/1 to win the Masters, which begins April 11.
