President Donald Trump is back at his Mar-a-Lago resort this weekend, and he took the opportunity to play a round at his nearby club on Saturday. It’s not news when Donald Trump plays golf anymore, but this particular round was noteworthy for his chosen playing partner.
That would be LPGA star Lexi Thompson, who teed it up with Trump at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, according to a statement from White House spokeswoman Lindsay Walters.
It’s not the first time Thompson has spent time on the golf course with Trump. In 2016, Thompson revealed she was a member of Trump’s club in South Florida and had played golf with him six times at that point.
The 24-year-old pro is already a 10-time winner on the LPGA tour. She won her first event at the 2011 Navistar LPGA Classic at the age of the 16, which at the time made her the youngest champion in LPGA history.
Donald Trump plays golf frequently even as president, but keeping tabs on his presidential golf excursions is no easy task.
In early February, NBC News reported that Trump had spent 172 days at golf properties since his inauguration in January of 2017. He spent 52 of those days at Trump International West Palm, and 87 days in all at Mar-a-Lago. Trump was a frequent critic of President Barack Obama for playing too much golf during his years in office.
Trump has teed it up with pro golfers several times since becoming president. On February 2 Trump played golf with the two greatest players in the history of the game: Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus.
That round happened at a different Trump course in Florida: Trump National Jupiter.
