Justin Rose’s birdie barrage continued in San Diego on Friday, as he pulled away from the field at the tournament’s halfway point. Here’s what else you missed from Round 2 of the Farmers Insurance Open.
The World No. 1 leads by three
Justin Rose followed up a sizzling first-round 63 with another excellent score of 66 — that’s six under par on the day, for a cumulative total of 15 under par. Just how good is that score? It ties the two-round record!

Rose carded seven birdies on the day, and has made only one bogey in 36 holes. He currently leads by three shots over Hideki Matsuyama, and is seeking his 10th career Tour title this week.
The Big Cat needs to go low this weekend
Tiger Woods followed up a first-round 70 with another matching score of 70 on Friday. His cumulative total of four under par was enough to make the cut, but he’ll need low rounds on Saturday and Sunday to get himself back in the mix.
Though he had four birdies (including the sweet chip-in shown below), Woods’s round was derailed by a bummer double-bogey on the North Course’s par-4 18th.

Woods is currently T48 — 11 shots back of Rose’s commanding lead.
Jon Rahm is lurking
After an incredible round of 10 under par on Thursday, Rahm’s scorecard was a lot less colorful on Friday. His round of even-par 72 was short on fireworks, featuring two birdies balanced by two bogeys.
The good news? He’s still T3 heading into the weekend — only five shots back of Rose’s lead. Here’s a look at his excellent par save on No. 15.

Rory McIlory is charging
The round of the day belonged to Rory McIlroy, who made four birdies and two eagles (including a hole-out on the North Course’s par-4 16th, shown below) en route to a seven-under-par 65.

The stellar performance launched McIlroy 65 spots up the leaderboard into the top nine. McIlory’s last Tour event was the Sentry Tournament of Champions, where he finished T4. He’s currently seeking his 15th Tour win.
