‘This is some crappy golf’: Charles Barkley rips Tiger, Phil during The Match

November 23, 2018

Charles Barkley has never been one to shy away from sharing his honest thoughts and opinions on certain issues. And The Match was no exception to Barkley’s ridicule on Friday afternoon.

The Turner Sports commentator, who can be seen most frequently on TNT’s NBA coverage, blasted Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson for their poor play and the lack of quality golf on display during The Match. In fact, Barkley even jokingly said he could beat Tiger and Lefty if he were playing today.

“This is some crappy golf,” Barkley said when Tiger and Phil were on the 9th hole. “Y’all know that. I could beat these two guys today.”

Barkley has always been one to freely speak his mind, whether it’s the NBA or The Match. When Tiger got wind of Barkley’s comments, all he could do was laugh off Sir Charles.

“I like our chances of making contact more than he does,” Woods said as Phil chuckled off to the side.

However, Tiger and Phil have been far from their best on Friday at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas. From missed putts to poor tee shots and bunker balls, it hasn’t been either Tiger or Phil’s best day.

The madness started off on the 1st hole when Phil missed a 9-foot putt to win $200,000, much to the chagrin of Tiger. But Tiger wasn’t spared from putting misery; he missed a three-foot putt for par on the second hole.

Then, on the 6th hole, both Tiger and Phil missed a pair of birdie putts to finish with par. On the front nine, there were only three birdies in total.

At the 7th hole, Phil missed a pair of subpar bunker shots to let his early lead slip away and allow Tiger to make things all square heading to the 8th tee.

As of this writing, Mickelson was 1-up heading to the par-3 17th hole.
