The 2018 QBE Shootout is a unique event on the PGA Tour. While no FedEx points are awarded, the Naples-area tournament gives golf fans a different look during the Tour’s December offseason. Tiburon Golf Club at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort plays host to the event.
A talented field is convening in Naples this year. World No. 5 and recent winner Bryson DeChambeau will team up with Kevin Na. Rising star Cameron Champ is playing with Kevin Kisner. And Lexi Thompson, the only female golfer in the field, will tee it up with Tony Finau (who has a new putter in the bag).
Steve Stricker and Sean O’Hair are the event’s defending champions. They split a $820,000 purse and each picked up an unofficial win. O’Hair all but clinched the event during Sunday’s fourball session by eagling the 17th hole. Each had previously won the event with a different partner.
The 54-hole QBE Shootout begins Friday.
