In 2018, LPGA Hall of Famer Juli Inkster made headlines when she began her 35th LPGA Tour season without an equipment sponsor — or any sponsor at all. And it was the second year in a row that had been the case.
Fast forward seven years, and the women’s game is in the midst of some seriously positive momentum, but there are still players who experience the sponsorship challenges that Inkster did.
That’s why Rhone, and activewear and athleisure brand for men and women that partnered with the LPGA in 2024, decided to take action by offering a selection of the brand’s Course to Court collection to players who do not have an existing apparel sponsorship in place.
“At Rhone, we are dedicated to championing and uplifting female athletes,” said Emma Crepeau, Chief Growth Officer at Rhone, in a statement. “Women’s sports continue to be underserved, and we’re committed to playing a role in changing that. By supporting these players, we hope to provide them with one less thing to worry about while they focus on their game.”
So far, 25 percent of active LPGA athletes have taken advantage of the offer. Rhone is the full apparel sponsor of two LPGA players, World No. 6 Lilia Vu and fourth-year LPGA cardholder Lauren Hartlage.
“It’s amazing to see that Rhone is recognizing the gap in women’s golf apparel sponsorships and is giving us the opportunity to wear their stylish clothes on the course,” said LPGA veteran Paula Reto, who is currently in the midst of her 12th LPGA season. “It’s an honor to represent the Rhone brand and their mission, including the importance of women’s physical and mental wellness and fitness.”
