President Trump congratulates Tiger Woods with ‘AMAZING CHAMPION’ tweet

Donald Trump posts low score: Trump with Tiger Woods

On Monday afternoon, President Trump sent Tiger Woods a congratulatory note on Twitter following Woods’ 82nd PGA Tour win at the Zozo Championship.

Woods finished off his victory at the rain-delayed event just after 9 a.m. Monday morning in Japan, 8 p.m. Sunday night on the East Coast of the U.S. Woods won wire-to-wire in the first PGA Tour event in Japan’s history, making birdie at the 72nd hole to clinch a three-shot win over runner-up Hideki Matsuyama.

“An AMAZING CHAMPION. Great going Tiger!” Trump tweeted at 12:59 p.m. Monday afternoon.

Woods’ 82nd title has particular significance because it put him in a tie for all-time Tour wins with Sam Snead.

Trump, a longtime admirer of Woods’ golf game, may not have seen the Zozo’s conclusion thanks to his appearance at the Washington Nationals’ World Series game. But he has seen plenty of Woods already this year. In February, the two teed it up with Jack Nicklaus and his son Steve. After Woods won the 2019 Masters, Trump awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom, making him the fourth golfer to receive the award.
