Two five-second fixes to help your game

October 14, 2019

If you want to improve in a hurry, it’s hard to beat a five-second tip. Try implementing the following two suggestions to help you save strokes — no swing changes needed.

CONCENTRATE WHEN IT COUNTS

Trying to maintain intense focus between shots is unnecessary and pointless. Let your mind relax and wander. Only when you’re approaching the ball should you begin to concentrate on the shot at hand.

Once the ball has left the clubface, forget about it and let your mind wander once again.

GET WIDE IN THE WIND

When putting in the wind, it’s easy to lose your balance. to keep it, take your normal putting address position, then spread your feet wide — so wide that your heels are outside your shoulders.

Now grip down on the handle a few inches. These adjustments drop your body’s center of gravity closer to the ground, helping you stay anchored.
