Ever wonder why so many professional athletes fall in love with golf? The obvious reason is because it’s fun as hell to play. Second, we think golf is a dynamic means to stay competitive without putting one’s body at risk between games or during their offseason. We’d probably go so far to say that football, basketball, hockey and baseball coaches see golf as a means for their athletes to reign in their emotional toughness and fine tune their eye-hand coordination.
Again, without fear of seeing their star players twist an ankle falling off a jet-ski or breaking a wrist while skiing downhill. So in that sense, golf is a pretty tame and a safe sport for professional athletes to play.
Recently we caught up with New England Patriots star wide receiver and new golf addict, Jakobi Meyers, to not only get a glimpse of his improving game, but also to see if there are any measurable differences in how an elite athlete goes through a clubfitting versus how we mere mortals do it. And spoiler alert: the system is the same, only it’s a whole lot more entertaining watching Jakobi hit 320 yards bombs while wearing Birkenstocks and spilling some tea on what it’s like to play football with Tom Brady.
