Top 100 Teacher: A foolproof putting drill to nail every short putt you see

THE FAULT

Putts as short as even two feet give you the willies. Tension creeps in. As does doubt—you slow down your forward stroke in an effort to control speed. As a result, the ball barely makes it to the hole.

THE FIX

Putt “toe-to-toe.” By that I mean stop your backstroke when the putter reaches your right toes, and stop your forward-stroke when it reaches your left toes. Smoothly accelerate from right to left. That’s plenty of force to keep the ball on line from two feet. And try exhaling before you start back. That’s an easy way to remove any tension from your stroke.
