Here is the training aid Jordan Spieth is using to fix his putting woes

February 21, 2019

On Wednesday at the WGC-Mexico, Jordan Spieth was spotted on the practice putting green using a training aid — the PuttOUT Putting Mirror Trainer — to improve his putting technique. His performance on the greens has been the subject of heavy scrutiny during his two-year winless run (currently 90th in Strokes Gained: Putting), so it immediately peeked the interest of curious golf fans everywhere.

Because we love training aid reviews around these parts, here’s the rundown on Spieth’s new toy…

The Product

The Putting Mirror is just one of a slate of PuttOUT’s products, which includes the PuttOUT Pressure Trainer, a sloped device that helps golfers dial-in their speed and line of their putts. You can use the Putting Mirror training aid alongside each of those products or, as Spieth shows above, on its own. The training aid is a mirror, which you place the ball into and then putt through.

There are barriers on either side of the putter head, which incorporates one of Tiger Woods’s favorite putting drills, and there are lines on the mirror itself to make sure everything is square and lined up correctly. The product comes with a gate, too. It’s a kind of insurance policy to make sure your ball is starting on the intended line.

The Price

At $74.99, PuttOUT’s is at a higher price point than its competitors. But PuttOUT’s does include some notable built-in features. The previously mentioned gates on either side of the putter head, for instance. The gate is another included product that’s usually charged as an add-on. You can buy the PuttOUT in the GOLF.com Pro Shop.

Does it Work?

If you’re looking for a can’t-go-wrong training aid, an alignment mirror like this is a great option. Aligning your putter correctly is a fundamental of good putting. Alignment mirrors like PuttOUT’s are a fool-proof way to start improving.
