Jessica Korda unveils the best swing tip she’s ever received

Jessica Korda started off 2021 in a big way. Not only did she shoot the fifth 60 in LPGA Tour history during the third round of the Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions, but she capped the first tournament of the year by winning in a playoff a day later on Jan. 24.

Korda buried her birdie putt on the first playoff hole to beat Danielle Kang and win for the sixth time in her LPGA career.

A few days later, Korda sat down with GOLF to break down her victory, her on-course style and more. She also unveiled the greatest swing tip she ever received. It’s apparently worked for her lately.

“I’d say don’t try to swing out of your shoes,” Korda said. “Basically meaning swing within yourself. Don’t feel like you need hit the ball so hard. Your own rhythm is different than the person next to you, so whatever your rhythm is you need to figure it out and play within your own self.”

Korda also dropped another good tip in her winner’s press conference at the Diamond Resorts. She was asked what was the secret to winning in her first start of the season.

“Everyone says low expectations, but I always expect — I don’t show up to a tournament just to show up,” she said. “I’m too old for that.”

How does that help amateurs? Easy. Always prepare properly before your rounds. You never know when your career-low score will strike.
