GOLF.com Equipment Podcast: Talking wedges with Bob Vokey

The acronym “G.O.A.T,” which stands for the greatest of all time, is completely overused in our social media-driver society. But I’d argue Bob Vokey deserves a shot at the GOAT title in his area of expertise. The master wedge craftsman at Titleist is a living legend in the sport, having created one of the most successful wedge businesses in the history of the industry.

During his 40-plus years in the equipment space, he’s worked with all of the greats — from Seve and Trevino to Woods and Kite.

But what many don’t know is Vokey didn’t grow up dreaming of creating wedges for the best players in the world. It wasn’t until 1997 that he started doing wedges full time, a job he volunteered to take on after spending years working on metal woods, including Titleist’s 975D and a stint with TaylorMade founder Gary Adams.

I recently had the pleasure of sitting down with “Voke,” as he’s known to many in the industry, for a wide-ranging interview that you don’t want to miss.
