FIRST LOOK: Titleist Vokey WedgeWorks D grind sand wedges

Now available through WedgeWorks on Vokey.com are the new Titleist Vokey 54.12 D and 56.12 D wedge models ($195 each). According to company reps, Bob Vokey‘s philosophy of players carrying a higher bounce sand wedge and mid-to-low bounce lob wedge is the inspiration for the design of the two new sand wedges, both of which feature Vokey’s D Grind sole.

The D Grind is made to provide more bounce on square-faced shots due to a high degree of forward bounce, while a crescent shape allows for enhanced playability on open faced shots. Both new D Grind wedges are aimed at players with steeper angels of attack who like to play a variety of shots but don’t want too much dig at impact.

“During most of my fittings, I’m striving to fit the player into two different grinds. We always fit based on how the player uses their wedges, but my preference is notably a high bounce sand wedge and mid-to-low bounce lob wedge, so they have the versatility to face all different types of shots and conditions,” Vokey said. “Bringing the D Grind to the 54 and 56 degree models opens up a great new fitting opportunity in these sand wedge lofts.”

As part of the WedgeWorks program both the 54.12 D and 56.12 D wedges can be customized with personal stamps, paint fills, shafts, ferrules, shaft bands, and grips. Currently they are both available in Tour Chrome finish only. The new D Grind wedges are available now.
