Just in time for Spring, Stix Golf has unveiled its first complete golf sets made in collaboration with Nicklaus brands.
Stix has been a leader in creating affordable sets of golf clubs for golfers who want to invest in premium equipment without going all in on custom clubs and breaking the bank. So far it appears they’ve found a nice middle ground between traditional less-expensive starter sets and custom fit “a la carte” clubs.
Nicklaus announced the partnership with Stix back in October and now the two companies are unveiling three new complete sets to kick things off.
“Like Stix, we want to help grow the game and make it more fun. For golfers who are looking for a smarter, simpler way to join the sport or elevate their game, Stix just changed the equation — again, and we’re thrilled to have played a part in this next phase of its evolution,” said Nicklaus Brands President Andy O’Brien in a release. “The effort to do for advanced players what they have already done for beginners is no small undertaking, and as evidenced by the emergence of the new Compete sets, they’ve managed to find a way to raise the bar yet again.”

Stix Nicklaus Compete
The Nicklaus Compete set is a 14-club set geared for better players who don’t want to break the bank on a full set of custom clubs.
“With the Compete series, you get all our best stuff,” Stix founder Gabe Coyne told GOLF. “We get our Compete driver, which is our adjustable 8- to 10-degree, carbon crown driver with a very premium shaft… and then we have our brand new hollow body muscleback iron set.
“Traditionally, we’ve been a cavity back since the beginning. From a minimalist aesthetic, but also just like the most forgiving playable iron we can have has been the cavity back from the beginning. But people have always wanted, including us, to do a muscleback.”
The full set includes a driver, 3-wood, 4-hybrid, 4-iron through PW, 52-, 56-, and 60-degree wedges and a mallet putter, each featuring Jack Nicklaus’ iconic signature and other nods to the Golden Bear, such as premium PU leather head covers and a gold Stix logo.
The driver features a carbon composite crown and a high-strength AM355P steel that creates a flex face and spring effect for added ball speed.
Altogether, the set is Stix’s most advanced to date as it reintroduces a 14-club complete set.
It’s available with your choice of regular, stiff or extra stiff shafts and has a half-inch long option for taller players. It also includes a Nicklaus/Stix branded golf bag.
Stix Nicklaus Essentials and Women’s
For the beginner-focused golfer, the collaboration also includes the 10-club Nicklaus Essentials and Nicklaus Women’s sets.
The Essentials set comes with a driver, 3-wood, 4-hybrid, 6-iron to PW, 56-degree wedge and mallet putter, while the Women’s set swaps the 4-hybrid and 6-iron for a 5-hybrid and 6-hybrid.
“We’re keeping it as simple as possible,” Coyne said. “Because as a beginner, you’re kind of trying to figure out how to hit each club. Do you really need two woods? Do I really need two hybrids? Do I really need three wedges?”
For the Essentials set, the irons use steel shafts while the women’s set utilizes graphite shafts, both coming in one flex option.
Price and Availability
The Stix Golf Nicklaus sets are available now for pre-order on Stix’s website and ship in May.
The Nicklaus Compete set is priced at $1,499 for all 14 clubs and a golf bag, while the Nicklaus Essentials set is $699 for the 10 clubs and a bag. The Nicklaus Women’s set costs $899 and also includes 10 clubs and a bag.
