The summer season is in full swing, and like you, GOLF’s staffers have been taking advantage of the warm weather by hitting the course as much as possible.
For players looking to add a weapon or two to the bag this season, it can be hard to decide what to try, especially with so much worthy equipment in the market. That’s why I decided to poll my colleagues to find out which club is a standout in their bags at the moment. The responses were delightfully varied and literally spanned the entire bag, from drivers, fairway woods and hybrids all the way to irons, wedges and even a putter. It’s proof that satisfaction with your game can be found in every club.
Check out the GOLF staff’s current favorite clubs below, and the reasons they love each one so much. And if you feel inspired to try one of the clubs — or more! — out for yourself, you can click the link to add to cart now.
Titleist T150 Iron
I was fitted into the T150 4-iron in June. Having played a set of Mizuno butter knives for the better part of a decade, it is so nice to very consistently get the ball up in the AIR from 4-iron range. Standing over a 215-yard par-3 isn’t quite as hit-and-hope as it used to be. —Sean Zak

Odyssey Toulon Las Vegas Stroke Lab putter
I’m partial to my Odyssey Toulon Las Vegas Stroke Lab putter, mostly because it’s the only club I can get airborne. But I also dig the weighting and the soft feel and those handy spaceship flanges that make alignment a cinch. —Josh Sens

Titleist Vokey SM10 wedge
I was fitted into wedges half a decade ago and spent that time using them (poorly) without much thought to my gear setup. Then, during a short-game lesson in June, a teacher looked at the bounce on my 60-degree and asked me if I needed to get my head examined (I probably did, but it had nothing to do with the clubs). As it turned out, I was playing with far too much bounce, which was killing my versatility around the greens. Three fresh wedges later — with my 60-degree drafted down to the mid-bounce M-Grind — and my short game is playing like new again. I feel creative again with a wedge in my hands, and I never thought I’d feel that way. —James Colgan

Titleist GT1 fairway wood
My Titleist GT1 9-wood (yes, 9-wood!) has become my most reliable club in the bag. With 24 degrees of loft, I can launch it to the moon and stop it on a dime — perfect for attacking long approach shots. —Zephyr Melton

Titleist GT2 Driver, Ping G430 hybrid
I haven’t hit a driver with this much versatility up and down the face in a long time. Runner-up is for sure my Ping G430 hybrid, which is like 9 clubs in one. I can hit it 230 if I gas it and 200 if I chip it. —Johnny Wunder

Titleist T200 iron
I know the trend is towards, 5-, 7-, 9-woods but it’s summertime and I like the way this fella can fly a whole bunch of different heights and the way he runs when hit low. —Dylan Dethier

TaylorMade R7 Quad Mini Driver
I was so anti-mini driver for a while, but I love having a club I can swing like a driver and hit 3-wood distances. It spins more than my 3-wood which makes it so much easier to control. —Jack Hirsh

Callaway Elyte Triple Diamond driver
I’ve always had to set up a standard TD driver to come back to the left a bit or work a big inconsistent draw, but the TD fixes that problem and puts something in my hands that feels automatic. Right side of the fairway baby draws all day long. —Jake Morrow
