Tiger Woods swapped out his spikes for these mystery sneakers
While Tiger Woods’ pin-seeking, or rather, pool-soaring accuracy during the “Hero Shot” competition earlier this week was impressive, what really got our attention was his choice of sneakers.
He wasn’t sporting his usual Nike golf shoes, nor were they any kind of sneakers we’d seen him wear before.
But after hours of scouring Nike’s website, we finally cracked the case and got a positive ID on Woods’ kicks: the Nike Joyride Run Flyknit running shoes.
It makes sense that Woods would forgo his typical spikes for more athletic, cement-friendly sneakers given the venue of the Hero Shot challenge — pool-side at the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar. The Joyride Run Flyknit sneakers are designed for long-distance running and have foam beads that conform to your feet for extra cushioning.
According to Nike’s website “thousands of tiny beads packed into pods directly beneath your feet give you an energizing sensation as they shift around for personalized comfort.” Meaning the shoes offer a dynamic cushioning system that delivers maximum performance and support. You can also twist and shake the sole whenever you want to reset the foam beads in these sneakers.
The best part is that these shoes come in a modern, low-profile package that bucks the “dad-sneakers” label while providing the same comfort and support you’d expect from such a shoe. They come in seven different colorways, including the black/white/black colorway seen on Woods’ feet. They retail for $180, with an option to customize your own pair for an additional fee.
Regardless of whether you are wearing these sneakers on a 10-mile run or to the range, they will add a dose of style and comfort to your day.
