It’s a wedge Scheffler used earlier in his career when he won his first Masters, but switched away from late in 2022. He switched back this spring before his first win of the year at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson.
Scheffler changes very little in his bag from week to week. The only notable change for this win was keeping the Srixon ZU85 3-iron in his bag, rather than the 7-wood he had used to win the PGA Championship and Memorial. The 3-iron was in the bag in Dallas and last month for the Open Championship and the decision between 3-iron and 7-wood is the only course-dependent club change he makes.
Another constant is Scheffler’s TaylorMade Spider Tour X L-Neck putter that he switched to last year and has now won 12 times on the PGA Tour since. Just this season, players using a Spider putter have won 12 times on Tour, eight of those coming from Scheffler and Rory McIlroy.
