Among the top-10 putters on the PGA Tour, just one used a blade-style putter in 2025.
The trend away from blade to mallet putters only furthered this past year. The DP World Tour equipement surverying group, SMS on Tour, recently posted that blade usage on the Euro Tour dropped a further four percent in 2025, down to just 18.4 percent.
There’s no evidence that it’s any higher on the PGA Tour.
In the top-10 of the PGA Tour’s Strokes Gained: Putting rankings for this past season, only Harry Hall used a blade putter, gaming an Odyssey O-Works 1W model. Many traditionalists wouldn’t even classify his wide-body blade as a true blade.
Toward the end of the year, we witnessed Ben Griffin, the top true blade putter for much of the season, switch into a mallet and win at the World Wide Technology Championship. The Spider putter he switched into was the winningest putter family of the season.
