Logan Olson is a rising star in the world of putters.
TaylorMade
Eyebrows immediately went up last winter when bespoke putter-maker Logan Olson started crafting putters for some of TaylorMade’s biggest stars.
Well, now the beans have finally been spilled as TaylorMade is officially announcing the acquisition of Logan Olson to its portfolio of golf and experiential brands.
This is a move that has been rumored for nearly a year, back when Scottie Scheffler first started testing and eventually won the 2023 Hero World Challenge with a custom-designed Logan Olson putter. The rumors only picked up steam when TaylorMade staffers Nelly Korda, Collin Morikawa and Tommy Fleetwood all gamed or tested a Logan Olson putter in late 2023 or early 2024.
As of February, even the language on Olson’s website read that the site was owned and operated by “Taylor Made Golf Company, Inc. doing business as Logan Olson” but official word on a collaboration or acquisition never came until now.
Over the past half-decade, the 27-year-old Olson has been a rising star in the bespoke-milled putters world. Most of his creations are one-off custom designs for specific customers, but he has also made a name for himself with several limited-release runs, most notably his two previous “Craft Batch” runs, the third of which is set for release this week.
“It’s not every day you stumble upon someone like Logan,” TaylorMade Vice President of Product Creation Brian Bazzel said in a release. “His ability to merge creativity with such a technical process is nothing short of remarkable. Whether you’re a professional on Tour, someone who plays the game for the sheer love of it, or even a collector with a keen eye for finely crafted putters, Logan’s creations embody a level of craftsmanship that resonates with golfers from all abilities.”
Under TaylorMade, Olson will continue as the principal designer of all Olson products, but now with the resources of TaylorMade’s operational and manufacturing capabilities. Additionally, Olson will create a “Tour matrix” of blade and mid-mallet putter heads, giving new options to fit TaylorMade Tour staffers and receive Tour feedback to inspire future Craft Batch releases.
“I’ve always appreciated that TaylorMade is a brand that isn’t afraid to take risks and try something different,” Olson said in the release. “I feel a resemblance to that in my own work and thoughts on approaching new projects. Being able to utilize the feedback of the best players in the world helps push design criteria to a completely different place.”
Olson will also continue doing custom designs.
The first Olson release under the TaylorMade umbrella is Craft Batch No. 3 which is set for launch on Dec. 5 and available exclusively on LoganOlson.com.
