ClubTest 2018: TaylorMade Black Copper Soto putter review

August 16, 2018

TaylorMade Black Copper Soto

$220; taylormadegolf.com

Key Technologies

Softer polymer face insert with grooves cut at a 45-degree angle increase topspin for a smoother forward roll; multilayer finishing process gives these flatsticks a rich, dark look; available in two blades and two mallets.

Our Take

The TP Black Copper Soto is about as close as you can get to Rory’s gamer without breaking into the Tour van. It features the most toe hang of any model in the line, with a single sightline and a half-shaft offset that purists will love.

Fitter Comments

The Black Copper putters can fit a ton of players, but with its toe hang, the Soto encourages a more active release.

Recommendation

Targets low- and mid-handicappers who have a consistent, arcing stroke.
