To help make the short game a little bit easier for everyone, Ping is introducing the all-new ChipR – a short game club designed to help simplify the bump and run chip shot close to the green.

Built to combine the best of both a putter and a 9-iron the all-new ChipR is both an homage to the original ChipO – a chipping club Ping introduced in the late 1970s and, a modern short game tool packed with technology.

What’s inside

The Ping ChipR is cast from 431 stainless steel, the same soft steel used in the construction of the iBlades for a soft feel and easy adjustability. Like all Ping irons, the new ChipR can be adjusted and custom fit to any of Ping’s 10 color codes (lie eagles) because this isn’t intended to be a one size fits all club.

“We’ve learned a lot since my grandfather, Karsten Solheim, invented the Chipo, but his insights were spot on as always. Our research indicates 1/3 of golfers who tested the ChipR saw better results compared to a traditional wedge. We’ve engineered a lot of technology into the ChipR to help golfers avoid the poor chip shot and save strokes around the green. It represents another score-lowering option from our engineers for golfers in search of game improvement and more enjoyment on the golf course.”
-John K. Solheim, PING CEO & President.

To maximize spin and consistency in various conditions the ChipR also features tungsten shaft/toe weights, precision-milled grooves, and Ping’s patented hydrophobic chrome finish that helps repel water away from the face.

This club comes just in time for The Open Championship and, could be just as helpful for Viktor Hovland as it will be for you.

Availability and Price

The ChipR is available starting today July 12 for pre-orders through Ping retail accounts and is priced at $195 with the stock steel shaft (Ping Z-Z115 wedge), and $210 with the stock graphite shaft (Ping Alta CB Slate)
