COMING SOON: Nike Air Max 97 golf shoes available later this month

January 7, 2020

Calling all sneakerheads and Nike enthusiasts — your next pair of golf shoes will be available soon. Presenting the Nike Air Max 97 G.

One of Nike’s most popular retro kicks is being made into a golf shoe, to be released later this month on Jan. 16. Nike has made a number of its top-selling shoes into golf gear over the past few years, between the Air Max 1 or any number of Jordan Brand shoes. One of the most popular was the Air Jordan 11 “Concord” which was released in different colorways throughout 2019.

As for the Air Max 97 G, the first colorway will be the most classic: silver. According to HypeBeast, these shoes were originally nicknamed “Le Silver” by Italian fans who went crazy for the shoe during its original run. Seemingly the only difference is the tread on the outsole. Nike is electing for a pretty low-profile, soft-spike look that directly matches many of Nike’s golf shoes, like the Air Max 1 G.

Perhaps what might matter most to some is the price, and Nike has not yet made that information available. To others, that might not matter at all.

Those who pay close attention to the golf shoe scene will recognize these shoes from Tony Finau’s Instagram post at the end of 2019. Finau showed them off right before Christmas. Hopefully you all saved your money.

That’s about all we know for now about these upcoming kicks. If Nike has its way, we can expect a number of their pro golfers to rock them in 2020. They’ll be available on Nike.com on Jan. 16.
