golf items we want for the holidays

What do our golf-loving staffers want for the holidays? Here are some of their picks from Hazy Sticks, Lululemon and more.

GOLF

Welcome to GOLF’s 2024 holiday edition of Our Picks, where our experts are hand-selecting the items you — and your golf-loving family and friends — need on your radar. Scroll below for our latest batch of recommendations, and visit our Best Golf Stuff of 2024 hub page for more articles.

We may work in the golf business and spend some of our time telling you about the best new gear, accessories and more you should get your hands on, but we have our own wishlists, too.

Whether it’s that new set of alignment sticks, a fancy new golf travel bag or the perfect top for chilly December weather, there’s always something us golfers can use. Right? Right.

So below, instead of asking for suggestions on what to buy others, we asked some of our staffers what they are asking for this holiday season. (Spoiler: You might like it and want to buy it as well.)

So scroll below for items hand-picked by our staff of experts, and for more holiday shopping, check out our roundup of Black Friday deals here, or our ultimate Holiday Gift Guide here.

If you are as clumsy or forgetful as me, you lose things constantly. And that’s what happened to my alignment sticks a while back. This year, I’m replacing my beloved Hazy Sticks set with another and a different color scheme. They have over a dozen different styles to choose from, so it’s easy to find one you’ll love. Golfers you are buying for would be big fans, too. As for the Miura sweatshirt? I’m just a big fan of the logo and think it looks sweet — and it’s also currently half off at just $47.50. Tough to beat. — Josh Berhow

Sun Mountain ClubGlider Meridian Golf Travel Bag

a golf travel bag

Sun Mountain ClubGlider Meridian Golf Travel Bag

The Meridian minimizes the hassle of traveling with your golf gear. Dense foam padding through the top of the bag protects your clubs; the leg mechanism supports the weight of your bag; and the pivoting wheels make the bag highly maneuverable. Pulling a loaded ClubGlider is nearly effortless.
$339.99 from www.sunmountain.com

I’ve had my current travel bag for over 10 years, and it’s about time I got a replacement. I often watch in jealousy as my fellow airport travelers glide their clubs across the terminal and I’m ready to join their ranks. With as much travel as I do with my sticks, a travel bag like this will be a worthwhile investment. — Zephyr Melton

Perfect Roll Putting Mirror

Perfect Roll Putting Mirror

Perfect Roll Putting Mirror

Perfect Roll Mirror The Perfect Roll Mirror is a compact, low-profile putting mirror that helps you improve your putting stroke. It is just 1/8″ thick, so your putter head and stroke are not elevated as with some other mirrors. The mirror measures 6″ wide x 12″ long, so it is easy to store in your golf bag and take with you to the practice green. The Perfect Roll Mirror has a beveled entry port that makes it easy to roll a ball to the same fixed location every time. This helps you develop consistent setup and stroke mechanics that will lead to more made putts. The mirror also includes tee holes that can be used to secure it to the putting green if desired. These holes can also be used as stroke guides for putters with a 5 ½” head or smaller. White and green lines on the mirror provide additional feedback on your stroke path and the squareness of your putter face. These lines complement the TrueSquare™ slots through the impact zone, which help you ensure that you are making square contact with the ball. The Perfect Roll Mirror is a portable and functional training mirror that is perfect for improving your putting stroke. Order yours today and start making more putts! Here are some additional benefits of using the Perfect Roll Mirror: Helps you develop a consistent putting stroke Improves your stroke path Ensures that you are making square contact with the ball Reduces common putting mistakes Makes you more confident on the green If you are serious about improving your putting stroke, the Perfect Roll Mirror is the perfect training aid for you. Order yours today and start seeing results!

The theme of these holidays for me is my newfound old age, which is manifesting in two pretty ugly ways: hangovers and putting yips. I wish I could say I’m willing to take the difficult steps of changing the inherent issues that cause these problems — alcohol consumption and intrusive thinking — but I am honest enough to know that I am not. So, in lieu of fixing the problem, I’ll buy products aimed to help me mitigate the negative effects. I was a skeptic of ZBiotics’ pre-alcohol supplement even after learning from the company’s whiz founder about its anti-hangover probiotic, but am less so now that I have seen its effects in my life. (Not a miracle product by any means, but if you get hangovers like I do, even modest improvements are crucial.) Speaking of positive effects, I am obsessed with pre-, during- and post-drinking hydration, and would mainline Waterboy’s post-hangover electrolytes straight into my veins if I possessed the medical knowhow (I don’t). Both products, I pray, will help my famously shaky hands around the greens on certain Saturday morning tee times. And maybe if I’m lucky, they’ll even allow me to go in early and practice my putting on my brand-new putting mirror. — James Colgan

TGL Boston Common Hat

TGL Boston Common Hat

The ’47 Hitch is a retro-inspired silhouette constructed with a pinched five-panel crown.
$34.99 from www.shoptglgolf.com

What do I want for Christmas? I want a Ballfrog hat. I’m not short on logoed gear from New England sports teams but I still don’t have anything with the green and white of Boston Common GC. Either TGL becomes a thing and I was an early adopter or it goes up in spectacular flames and my Men’s ’47 Hunter Green TGL Boston Common Golf Hitch Adjustable Hat becomes a cool artifact and a snapshot in time from one of the weirdest moments in pro golf’s history. And yeah, just gimme the clean logo. No text so only the real ones know. — Dylan Dethier

Short Game Gains Trigon Toolkit

Short Game Gains Trigon Toolkit

Short Game Gains Trigon Toolkit

Our most innovative bundle yet- the Trigon Toolkit comes with 4 putting aids. First, the Steel Trigon Mirror is a double-sided reflective plate for checking eye line, practicing start line, face alignment, aim, and enforcing center contact. It also acts as a stencil, working alongside the Putting Chalk Pens to create an identical alignment setup on grass. Next up, the Trigon Toolkit includes a double sided, reflective steel shoulder alignment mirror. The flip side acts as a ruler to measure setup and calibrate your stroke length. On top of that, this bundle boasts 2 Putting Chalk Pens, filled with non-toxic, water based chalk for creating aim lines, alignment tracks, and start line graphics. These wipe away easily with a damp cloth and don’t damage or kill the grass. Lastly, this kit includes a retractable aim string. This can be used to align the Trigon to a desired aim point, whether it’s the hole or a secondary point. This helps with not only aim, but start line, and green reading. Check out our tutorial videos for tips, tricks and drills to improve your game!

I’ve always been a pretty good putter, but lately my stroke has felt off. So I’m adding this putting toolkit from Short Game Gains to my wishlist. The mirrored putting plate is great for checking eyeline and when coupled with the shoulder alignment mirror, you can be sure your upper body is square at setup — a fault I usually slip into when I haven’t been practicing. I also love that the putting plate includes tee holes for a gate drill. I find it’s the best drill to practice delivering a square putter face at impact and helps you hit more putts off the sweet spot. — Maddi MacClurg

I’m a sucker for good golf-themed wall art, and while my colleague Josh Berhow went over some of his favorite additions to his home decor, I always fixate on the beautiful walnut peg boards to mark off each of the Top 100 Courses you get to to play. Not only are they a fantastic option to cover a bare wall, but they can help you brag to your buddies. The only question I have to answer when I eventually get my own is: Top 100 U.S. or Top 100 World? — Jack Hirsh

I came across this fleece jacket when I was researching items for GOLF’s Ultimate Holiday Gift Guide, and I was instantly in love. Fleece is very on-trend right now, and this iteration from Lulu has so many attractive details: a full-zip, hip-length, cinchable waist, relaxed fit.
