When it comes to wardrobe staples, there is perhaps no article of clothing more essential than a polo shirt.
Dress it up with a smart sweater and tailored pants, dress it down by wearing it untucked with a pair of shorts — the polo is the lynch pin of just about every outfit, adding a hint of elevation to casual looks without appearing too stuffy.
You can find polos in a multitude of compositions: cotton, performance fabrics, prints and more. But at its core, a polo is simply a shirt with a collar and a placket. Many golf courses require them, making the polo the unofficial uniform of our sport.
The best thing about modern polos is their transitional power, for all the reasons listed above. Most are now constructed with specialty fabrics to keep you cool, comfortable, and protected from the sun’s harmful rays. Some are specially designed to keep the collar looking crisp and fresh. Perhaps most importantly, all of these polos look good.
Check out some of our favorite polos of the year below, and enjoy wearing them on the course, off the course, and wherever life leads you.

She can out-hustle them in the office, too, where she’s primarily responsible for producing both print and online features, and overseeing major special projects, such as GOLF’s inaugural Style Issue, which debuted in February 2018. Her original interview series, “A Round With,” debuted in November of 2015, and appeared in both in the magazine and in video form on GOLF.com.
