They say, “Putting separates the pros from the amateurs,” but what separates the pros from the pros? The answer often boils down to even better putting (among other things, of course, but let’s talk about putting — or more specifically, putter grips).

One thing we noticed about the leading pros and their putting this weekend at the 2024 WM Phoenix Open: more than a few pros trust SuperStroke putter grips in their games — five of the top seven finishers (including the winner), to be exact.

But, why do professional golfers prefer SuperStroke putting grips over other brands? The simplest answer is quality, structure and design variety based on functional necessity.

When it comes to SuperStroke grips, there are plenty of choices. Depending on personal putting preferences, swing arc and putting tendencies, there’s a SuperStroke grip designed to help you be a better putter.

Considering five of the seven top-finishing pros in the WM Phoenix Open prefer a SuperStroke putter grip, there must be validity in the quality of these grips. According to SuperStroke, in 2023, SuperStroke users won a total of $47.5 million in first-place prize money across 72 tournaments on golf’s major professional tours.

Which SuperStroke grips are the pros using?

There are various putter grip options available, such as pistol-style grips, non-tapered Flatso grips and others designed for “claw” and “wrist-lock” putting styles, which come in different thicknesses and surface textures and features.

Take a look at the options used by the pros featured below to find which grip may fit best for your putting stroke.

And just because pros use these grips doesn’t make them unattainable or unaffordable for the rest of us — you, too, may own a grip just like the pros. Most of these are only around $30, so it’s a relatively undemanding addition to your putter to ultimately enhance your golf game.

The Canadian winner, Nick Taylor, opts for the SuperStroke Zenergy Pistol Tour putter grip, which is just $29.99 at the PGA Tour Superstore, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Golf Galaxy or directly from SuperStroke.com.

This leads me to another great aspect about SuperStroke grips: they’re available just about everywhere, so they’re also easily accessible for those who would rather try them in person. Various color options are also offered depending on where you shop.

Superstroke Zenerygy Flatso Putter Grips — Charlie Hoffman, Jordan Spieth and Sahith Theegala

Charley Hoffman landed in second after a captivating two-hole playoff. He prefers the Superstroke Zenergy Flatso Putter Grip in an extended length.
