While plastic tees are all the rage at some courses, and the fact that they are near unbreakability is a huge selling point, it’s tough to top the feel of a premium wooden tee. Just ask GOLF senior writer Michael Bamberger, who sang the praises of them — specifically those made by Western Birch — back in 2021.
Bamberger appreciated the tees’ ultra-pointy ends, making them ideal for use on cold winter ground.
“They are hard to lose, because of their colorful mid-stem paint jobs, and hard to break, because of the quality of their wood,” he wrote. “But the true pièce de résistance of the Western Birch tee is its head, with a perfect level of cuppiness. Not too shallow, not too deep. Just right.”
At Fairway Jockey, you can shop more than four-dozen varieties of Western Birch tees, in short 1.5-inch lengths all the way to an ultra-long 3.5 inches.
The tees are available in a number of fetching color combinations, some of which, perhaps not so coincidentally, may even align with your favorite pro team or collegiate alma mater.
Reagrdless of which color you select, one primary factor remains consistent: the tees are made of bamboo, making them strong, and are designed with a thick shank for increased durability.
Prices range from $7.99 for a box of 50 short tees to $9.99 for a box of the longer versions. Which tees best suit your game? Explore a selection of our favorites below, or click this link to check out the collection in its entirety.
