Method Golf RiderStack

The magnetic Method Golf Co. RiderStack enables you to access your phone and accessories with ease.

Jessica Marksbury

Being on your phone is generally something you’re encouraged not to do during a round — and most of the time, I heed this advice, limiting calls and texts to the bare necessities.

But with so many worthwhile apps on the market — like those paired with distance-measuring devices, or Green Books from Golf Logix — using a phone is not only helpful on the course, it can also be an essential game-improvement piece of equipment.

But using the phone during a round presents a new problem. Where do you put it? For men, a pocket might suffice, but ladies’ apparel pockets are often non-existent, and almost never deep enough to accommodate an iPhone 16. Leaving the phone in the cart compartment means it’s vulnerable to falling out, shattering, or getting lost altogether. And keeping the phone in a bag pocket means an annoying retrieval and replacement between every shot.

That’s why Method Golf Co. sought to solve this problem with a collection of magnetic phone mounts. There’s a mount for every style of play: whether you ride, push or carry.

I recently tested Method Golf Co.’s RiderStack, which is designed for use on a golf cart. The mount itself is nice and weighty, and the phone cradle is easily manipulated with the tightening and loosening mechanisms. There’s also a handy QR code on the included instruction sheet, which links to a video demonstration of how to use the device (something I highly recommend doing upon receipt!).

Once I got to the course, I was surprised by how strong the magnet was. It clamps down securely wherever you place it and will not move until you pry it off (though that’s easily done when you’re ready). I placed mine just above eye-level on the driver’s side. I also tested my phone in the cradle beforehand, so I could dial in the settings quickly once I arrived to the course.

For the round I played, I was also using my Bushnell Wingman Mini, so I had the Bushnell app going on the phone, with audible yardages delivered to me through the speaker. With my phone mounted, I could see the hole layout ahead of me at all times, including intermediate yardages and necessary carries. Calls and texts also came through the speaker, so I didn’t have to worry about checking anything on my phone throughout the round unless I wanted to — and when I did, it was right there for me to view.

Another useful feature of the Method Golf mount is its stacking capability. The kit I tested came with several accessories: a rangefinder strap, towel and club brush. I didn’t use the strap, but the towel and brush really came in handy. Each of these items also has a magnet attachment, making it easy to click them into place alongside the phone holder, keeping them visible and accessible throughout the entirety of the round.

If you need to remove your phone from the holder, there’s also a toggle you can flip to make it easy to slip the phone in and out without adjusting the cradle width.

In short, if you’re a player who likes using phone apps to play music or to view course layouts and distance during your round, Method Golf’s mounts are a must-have accessory to make life easier on the course. Shop Method Golf Co.’s magnetic bundles below.
