TaylorMade SIM Max D driver

For ClubTest 2020, we tested and reviewed 28 new drivers to help you find the right one for your game. Below are the results for the TaylorMade SIM Max D driver. You can find the full list of drivers and test results here.

Price: $500
Lofts: 9˚, 10.5˚, 12˚
Our take: Delivers the same forgiveness package as SIM Max, but with a built-in draw bias aimed at attacking slices. Low spin properties should help, too. Also features an 18 percent larger face than SIM.
ClubTester’s take (12-hdcp): “Haven’t hit one like this in years where my slice isn’t a problem.”
Robot’s take: Data confirms the Max D’s ability to reel in slices and reduce spin.

TaylorMade SIM Max D

The SIM Max D is engineered to help golfers who struggle with a slice. A strategically placed heel-bias internal weight and divergent topline masking make the driver look more open at address, helping golfers close the face at impact. Like the rest of the drivers in the SIM family, this driver head has been individually calibrated and injected to reach the threshold of the maximum legal limit of ball speed. The revolutionary face curvature reduces sidespin and delivers straighter shots on off-center strikes.
