Fans of Ping drivers are probably well aware how dedicated to fitting the company is and that they usually offer multiple driver options to cover the full range of players. For example, in the case of the exceptional G400 line, there were three options – standard, SFT (straight flight tech – aimed at slicers), and LST (low spin tech – aimed at high spin players). And since the even better G410 Plus driver came out earlier this year, along with the SFT model, a lot of folks have been wondering what happened to the lower spinning LST.
The answer isn’t surprising if you know anything about Ping’s philosophy of not introducing new products just for the sake of the standard replacement cycle. It was delayed for the very simple reason that company engineers couldn’t actually beat the existing G400 LST model in terms of performance. Until now.
So while some higher spin players might have been a little disappointed by the delay, there’s reason to celebrate because the LST is here and even better than ever. In comparison to the previous popular G400 LST, the G410 model features a slightly larger (450cc) clubhead for added MOI and stability on off center hits, but isn’t quite as large as the G410 Plus or SFT models, giving the LST a relatively compact look at address. The new LST also has the same moveable weight design as the standard G410 Plus model, which allows players to move the CG location between three positions on the perimeter of the clubhead (draw, neutral, fade) to dial in shot shape preferences.

The G410 LST ($500), which reduces spin by 200-400 rpm as compared to the Plus model, is also designed with the same aerodynamic hosel sleeve as the standard model, which provides eight adjustable positions from which to choose including flat lie options. For faster ball speeds, a T9S+ precision-machined forged clubface provides more flex at impact, which also helps yield better results on miss hits.
The patented Dragonfly Technology that was prominently displayed on the crown of the G400 model is now on the inside and combines with a new “creased crown” external design to allow for a thinner structure and more weight savings that further contributes to stability and forgiveness. Stock shaft offerings (no upcharge) include Ping Tour 65 and 75, Project X EvenFlow Black 75, and Mitsubishi Tensei CK Orange 60. Lofts available include 9- and 10.5-degrees.
“The head size is slightly smaller than the Plus model and the CG is positioned to reduce spin several hundred rpms while still providing extremely high forgiveness,” says Ping President John K.
