Bridgestone unveils Tour B JGR driver along with two new iron models

September 12, 2018

Everyone knows Bridgestone Tour B golf balls by now, as various stars — including Matt Kuchar, Brandt Snedeker, and Tiger Woods — currently play them on Tour.

On the club side, however, most folks aren’t nearly as familiar with the Bridgestone line, which is a shame as they feature numerous legit technologies that provide top-notch performance.

If you’re not familiar with Bridgestone clubs the new Tour B JGR line is a good place to start as it encompasses a full family including driver ($399), fairways ($229 each), hybrids ($219 each), HF2 irons ($899) and HF1 irons ($849).

The new Tour B JGR driver (and all the woods) feature Bridgestone’s new power mill face design, which helps produce lower spin rates by extending the time the ball spends in contact with the club at impact. A new crown design with both internal and external channels allows for more flex at impact for increased ball speeds and higher launch angles while ribs in the sole add stiffness for greater energy transfer.

The driver also features 25g of internal weight and an 8g internal weight that promotes a slight draw bias for those who fight a slice. The new Tour B JGR driver will be available in 9.5°, 10.5°, and 11.5° lofts, while the fairway woods will come in 15° and 18° options. The hybrids will be available in 19°, 22°, and 25°.

The HF2 irons are forged cavity back models aimed at mid-handicappers that want game-improvement performance with traditional feel. Other features include extremely thin clubfaces for higher COR and more ball speed and rubber polymer inserts for less vibration and improved sound and feel.

Higher handicappers will prefer the HF1 model, which features a hollow cavity design and low CG location for high launching, straighter shots. Variable face thickness helps provide balanced performance across the entire face while forged construction yields enhanced feel. The HF2 irons come standard with True Temper XP 95 steel shafts while the HF1 irons come stock with UST Mamiya Recoil graphite shafts.

All new Bridgestone Tour B JGR clubs will be available at retail on 10/8/18.
