As any of our 40 ClubTesters can tell you, fairway woods and hybrids have come a long way in recent years. Thanks to improved adjustability, livelier faces and friendlier sole designs, manufacturers now produce 3-woods that put your driver on notice and hybrids that can banish your long irons to the garage’s cobwebbed corners. You’re bound to find a new club (or more) among the 20 fairway woods and 16 hybrids our panelists tested at World Golf Village Resort in St. Augustine, Fla.

We divided both fairway woods and hybrids into two categories: Better-Player and Game-Improvement. Our research partner, Hot Stix Golf, fit each tester for loft, shaft flex and face angle, and captured data from thousands of range shots. Also, our tireless team took these sticks to the course to see how they performed in the heat of competition.
