Wide fairways, wild greens and gigantic bunkers gouged from the Nebraska Sandhills are the defining features of this rolling layout, on a former cattle ranch near the Snake River. Co-architects Tom Lehman and Chris Brands made plain their intent to create an epic homage to the links courses of Scotland, and they succeeded in the look and feel of a grand layout that only lacks an ocean. In lieu of coastal views, the course offers sweeping vistas of the surrounding prairie. Close your eyes and cup your ears, and you can almost hear the waves.
