Course Overview

Proof that the combination of Tillinghast and great rolling land is tough to beat. Every hole at Five Farms East shows off the architect’s master touch, but the highlights are its two world-class par-5s. The dogleg 6th plays like a reverse Road Hole, forcing players to consider a risk-reward drive over a maintenance barn as the fairway swings to the left beyond it. The massive 14th requires a second shot that carries “Hell’s Half Acre,” an imposing Sahara cross-hazard that was a favorite Tillinghast design deploy. Keith Foster’s inspired 2015 renovation restored Tillinghast’s vision, modernized the greensand put this Maryland horse country gem back on our list.
