Featured grouping for Sunday
The threat of inclement weather on Sunday afternoon has led to the final-round tee times being pushed forward to 8-10 a.m. ET. Players will be sent off split tees in threesomes.
After three rounds at TPC Sawgrass, there’s a new 54-hole leader: J.J. Spaun, who was third on Friday, is alone at the top of the leaderboard after firing a two-under 70 to reach 12 under overall — one shot clear of his closest competitor, Bud Cauley (-11). Saturday’s 36-hole co-leaders Akshay Bhatia and Min Woo Lee struggled in the third round, firing rounds of three-over 75 and six-over 78, respectively, tumbling down to T5 and T16 on the leaderboard.
Meanwhile, hot rounds of six-under 66 from both Cauley and Corey Connors launched those players into the mix ahead of Sunday’s final round. At eight under par and four shots back, 2019 Players Champion Rory McIlroy is also within shouting distance.
Defending champion (times two!) Scottie Scheffler is seven shots back at -5.
Spaun, Cauley and Lucas Glover (-9) will tee off in the final grouping on Sunday at 10:01 a.m. ET. You can watch the final round of the Players Championship on NBC from 12-6 p.m. ET on Sunday. You can also stream exclusive online coverage via PGA Tour Live on ESPN+ starting at 8 a.m. ET, while Peacock will offer a live simulcast of NBC’s coverage.
