It was one of the worst-kept secrets in the golf-equipment world, and now that rumor is reality: Jon Rahm’s LIV Golf team, Legion XIII, has signed a deal with Callaway Golf.
The agreement — the terms were not disclosed — is big news not only because one of the world’s best golfers is in the middle of it but also because it represents the first time a major equipment manufacturer has signed with LIV. It’s also an indication that whatever the state of the LIV-PGA Tour negotiations, LIV and its teams are pushing forward.
I’ll have a ton of insight to add when the time is right, but there’s no question the deal is wandering into uncharted waters. Callaway CEO Chip Brewer has never shied way from outside-the-box thinking (full disclosure: he hired me four years ago), and partnering with LIV is yet more evidence that he and his company are willing to take chances.
“We’re committed to being an equipment leader wherever top players are competing,” Brewer said in a release. “Now the time is right to cement our relationship with Jon and his team — utilizing his exceptional talent and stature within the game to help engage and excite fans around the globe.”

Since leaving the PGA Tour for LIV at the end of 2023, Rahm has continued to play Callaway clubs. In the first two LIV events this year, he wore a Callaway logo on his hat, hinting at the partnership to come.
“I’ve played the best golf of my career with their equipment over the past four years, and they continue to set the bar higher with every new product line,” Rahm said in the release. “I know this partnership will have a tremendously positive impact for me and my teammates.”
Rahm originally signed with Callaway in 2021 and quickly validated the company’s investment with his dramatic win at the 2021 U.S Open at Torrey Pines. He is a former No. 1 player in the world and snagged a second major title at the 2023 Masters.
The Spaniard finished first in LIV’s individual standings in 2024, and his team finished second in the team race behind Bryson DeChambeau’s Crushers.
