While the biggest names in golf are home resting after an eventful summer, there’s still golf being played on the PGA Tour. For everyone outside the top 75 in the FedEx Cup standings there’s still plenty at stake. With a solid fall season, they can set themselves up for success in 2025.
For Keith Mitchell, that mission is off to a solid start. Through three rounds at the Sanderson Farms Championship, the 32-year-old holds a one-shot lead as he searches for his second career Tour victory. With rounds of 67, 64 and 65, Mitchell holds a slight edge over Beau Hossler heading into the final round at the Country Club of Jackson.
“Tomorrow is a completely new day,” Mitchell said. “It’s Sunday. Last group. Been there before and failed a bunch on Sundays in the last group or even close. I’m hoping I can learn from those mistakes.”
If he can learn from those past mistakes, he’s in line for a huge payday. The winner in Jackson walks away with not only a two-year Tour exemption, but also a winner’s check worth $1.37 million.
