The 2024 FedEx Cup Playoffs, the PGA Tour’s annual series of playoff tournaments, begins Thursday and runs through Sept. 1, and by the end a season-long PGA Tour champion will be awarded the FedEx Cup and a whole lot of money. Here’s everything you need to know about the FedEx Cup Playoffs, including the full FedEx Cup Playoffs format, schedule, prize money and information on how to watch the action.
FedEx Cup Playoffs format
The FedEx Cup Playoffs consist of a series of three stroke-play tournaments. The top 70 in the FedEx Cup standings at the end of the regular season qualify for the first event, the FedEx St. Jude Championship.
The top 50 players following the FedEx St. Jude will earn tee times at the BMW Championship.
Finally, the top 30 at the end of the BMW qualify for the Tour Championship finale.
At the Tour Championship, players are awarded starting scores based on their FedEx Cup standings, with the player in the No. 1 position starting at 10 under and players ranked 26th-30th starting at even par. Four rounds will then be played with the player with lowest total score, including starting scores, winning the FedEx Cup.

FedEx Cup Playoffs purse, prize money
A lot of money is on the line at the 2024 FedEx Cup Playoffs. First, players will compete for the prize money available at the first two events, the FedEx St. Jude Championship and the BMW Championship. Each of those events carries a winner’s prize of $3.6 million and a total purse of $20 million, which were the same amounts awarded at the Signature Events in the 2024 PGA Tour season.
The Tour Championship works differently. Instead of prize money for the tournament alone, players who qualify for the Tour Championship compete for their total FedEx Cup bonuses. The player who comes out on top at the Tour Championship, starting scores included, wins the FedEx Cup along with a gargantuan FedEx Cup bonus of $25 million.
Here is a list of the FedEx Cup bonuses for the top-10 finishers at the end of the Tour Championship:
2024 FedEx Cup Playoff bonuses (top 10)
1) $25 million 2) $12.5 million 3) $7.5 million 4) $6 million 5) $5 million 6) $3.5 million 7) $2.75 million 8) $2.25 million 9) $2 million 10) $1.75 million
