Akshay Bhatia is one round closer to a second career PGA Tour win.
At the Valero Texas Open halfway point, Bhatia held a five-shot lead over his closest competitors. Now, with 18 holes remaining, Bhatia has a four-shot advantage after firing a third-round 68 to get him to 15 under par overall.
Were Bhatia to win on Sunday, he would also claim another coveted prize: a tee time at Augusta National next week. Bhatia has only one major championship appearance on his resume: the 2021 U.S. Open, where he finished T57.
It won’t be an easy day for any of the contenders given all that’s at stake, and there are a number of capable players in the mix. Denny McCarthy is four shots back at 11 under, followed by Brendon Todd at eight under and Hideki Matsuyama and Russell Henley at seven under.
For Sunday’s final round, Bhatia will play in the final grouping alongside McCarthy and Todd at 12:30 p.m. ET.
You can watch the final round of the 2024 Valero Texas Open on Sunday via ESPN+, which will stream with exclusive early action starting at 10 a.m. ET and featured group coverage all day, and on Golf Channel starting at 1 p.m. ET, followed by NBC at 2:30 p.m. ET.
